Pictou Landing First Nation School’s Earth Week exploratory event!

Back to stories

Green Schools was invited to come hang out at Pictou Landing First Nation School and provide an activity for their #EarthWeekNS Exploratory event!

The entire student body participated in the activity centre’s set up in the gym and cycled through each activity every 20 minutes by class. Green Schools provided the micro garden activity, for which the children were asked to collect plastic bottle caps ahead of time in the school newsletter. Another way to #WasteLess by saving items from the landfill!

The students planted basil with the hopes of adding some of these plants to the school community garden. During the activity they discussed the energy saving benefits to planting their own food and reducing their waste by recycling.

A few of the other stations were: Garbage Match – Sorting Waste Properly, Pictionary Game, and Paqtism Teluett – Simon Says. All games had a component of energy conservation incorporated in them!
