Annapolis West Education Centre outdoor space!

Back to stories

Annapolis West Education Centre has finished their school renovations and settled in! The next step is to develop their outdoor classroom. This fall the Options and Opportinuties (O2) class started to develop the space by planting trees. They have plans to bring in volunteers, trades people, and work with the community to make it an inclusive project. They plan to work with the O2 students as they develop their skills for future careers and work with the community. Engagement Officer Natalie McMaster visited the group and shared what other schools have done with their outdoor spaces in Nova Scotia. They also chatted about connecting with the seniors in the community that are interested in outdoor spaces, the mental health benefits of getting outside and seniors connecting with youth. We expect great things in the coming year as AWEC develops their outdoor spaces!
