We ‘Walk the Energy Efficiency Talk’ here at Green Schools Nova Scotia.

Green Schools Nova Scotia prides itself on not only teaching energy-efficiency but also BEING energy efficient. Did you know your school’s Engagement Officer plans their visit with the Earth and energy efficiency in mind?

We currently work with 331 schools and when we are ready to hit the road we plan our routes to minimize the distance traveled. Our Engagement Officers live in the communities where they work, this decreases the distance traveled and therefore the amount of energy used to visit schools. We work collaboratively in the areas where our individual boundaries overlap, again minimizing travel to visit your school. 

When visiting a school we support combining classes and even provide whole school assemblies so we can inspire the highest number of students to be sustainable with the lowest environmental impact from travel.

With an increase in virtual engagements, we have managed to reduce our driving by 2,800 kilometers. That adds up to avoiding approximately half a metric ton of carbon, or 560 kgs of CO2. 

We’d like to thank each school for their support because planning with the Earth in mind can sometimes require you to be more flexible when scheduling our visits to your school!
